Akthem Sumrain
President

As President at SCC, Akthem brings a wealth of experience working with both public and private companies of all sizes, from a broad range of industries. A leader by nature, Akthem has headed up large organizational teams in the Investor Relations, Corporate Finance and Not-for-Profit sectors.

With a sound understanding of the complex regulatory system that is the capital markets,Akthem has significant experience in delivering solutions to clients and partners of all sizes to meet the ever-growing demand to stay compliant and transparent. Akthem has a keen eye on the bottom line and knows how to deliver responses that are in sync with the realities and business needs of his clients. A longtime supporter of charities, Akthem sat on the board for the Canadian Cancer Society Ontario Chapter. Akthem is a member of the CFA Institute.

Jesse Waltman, MAcc, MBA, CA
EVP, Operations and Finance

Jesse is a passionate, experienced, and entrepreneurial financial and management leader who is driven to find practical solutions to operational and strategic hurdles. Jesse considers obstacles to be opportunities with driving bottom line success as the ultimate goal. With experience both in Canada and the US, Jesse has led a variety of small and large high-performing teams alike. Jesse, a CA, obtained his Master of Accounting from the University of Waterloo and his Executive MBA through the Kellogg School of Management and the Schulich School of Business. Jesse believes that the prosperity and success of a community is inextricably linked to the willingness of those in it to give back for the betterment of the community as a whole. Over the years Jesse has dedicated significant time and resources to, among other causes, education and the arts including various directorships and as a past member of the University of Waterloo Board of Governors.

Babak Pedram M.Sc.
Vice President

Babak brings a wealth of capital markets and investor relations experience to the SCC group. Over the course of his career, Babak has worked with various public and private companies across N.A. and Europe as an Investment Banker and an Investor Relations Professional. He has a distinctive approach to building strategic communication plans that has led to his success within the industry. His unique ability to build and maintain relationships has helped him develop an extensive network of contacts throughout the investment community. Babak has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Queen’s University.

Maite Soria-Sutton
COO

Maite brings a wealth of experience from over two decades in the publishing and corporate communications industries. Joining the company in 1997, Maite quickly became instrumental in its future growth strategy. As Chief Operating Officer, she manages all the day-to-day operations and is responsible for the company’s expenditures and future investing.

Going into her 13th year at the company, Jennifer has proven the power of effective project management. An absolute professional with a fine-tuned eye for detail, Jennifer brings a strong background, ensuring your communications projects will be project managed seamlessly from concept to delivery.

Alex Bodrenok
Studio Manager

Alex’s appreciation for articulate, straightforward and insightful design solutions motivates him to focus on incomparable quality and timely delivery of everything he touches. Since joining the team in 2009, Alex has completed over 200 art and design projects, varying from complex corporate collateral to thought-provoking branding.

Regarded as one of Canada’s most accomplished graphic designers, Mahmoud has a unique ability to translate an organization’s vision into powerful design solutions. With over three decades of experience and countless industry awards under him, Mahmoud prides himself on always creating designs that push the envelope of creativity and technology while focusing on the "CEO’s Aspirational Story".

Aaron Benson
Digital Account Manager

Bringing a wealth of experience as an account manager, art director and senior designer working in communications design and development for companies and organizations of all sizes, Aaron takes a problem solving approach - always with a view to the real business needs of clients and their unique audiences. He finds efficiencies and drives technological solutions to ensure consistently better final products, on time, on budget and often surpassing expectations. Some of his recent national and international clients include Alcatel Lucent, Manulife Financial, OP Trust, SNC Lavalin O+M, Royal LePage Relocation Services, and IA Clarington.

Aimee Buxton
Senior Web Designer

Aimee has over 10 years of experience in designing online interactive websites and applications. Her extensive background in online application design has resulted in a deep understanding of interactivity as it relates to user-experience and how that experience can effect conversion. She has worked closely with national and international clients such as Alberto Culver, Cloverleaf Seafood, Bayer, St. Ives, Canada Life and various Not for Profit organizations.

Syed Murad
Lead Developer

Syed comes to SCC with over a decade of experience as a software architect and programmer in the corporate communications field. Bringing recommendations to the team, Syed can take ideas and build solutions while conceptualizing the finished project.

Richard Harris
Senior Web Developer

Joining the company in 2010, Richard brings a wealth of skills in web and software development with a variety of programming languages and technologies. Richard is known for his strong technical and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and always going the extra mile to ensure the client is happy with the end result.

Cheryl Paulsen
Senior Web & Production Designer

Cheryl came to Sutton in 2012 with substantial experience in the world of corporate relations and compliance communications. Equipped with extensive design knowledge across both print and web media, Cheryl is eager to tackle any project regardless of the end product medium. Driven by her love for exceptional design, Cheryl strives to develop strong, solid concepts, while applying logic in fresh creative ways.

Andrew Castrucci
Production Assistant, QA/QC

Andrew is our resident student in training at SCC. As an Art and Art History student in the University of Toronto/Sheridan College joint program specializing in illustration and design, Andrew started as a social media intern at SCC. He is now working as a design studio intern assisting the team with QA, QC and layout of websites through the CMS. Andrew's determination and hard work are always on hand to assist the team with any studio task.

Mary Alilovic
Senior Finance Administrator

Mary has been with Sutton Compliance Communications since 2000. She oversees all areas of accounting and assists with Human Resources. Her many years of freelance in the accounting field have proven to be an asset to our finance department. She works closely with the COO in the day to day operations of the company.

Teresa Moretti
Finance Administrator

Teresa joined Sutton Compliance Communications in 2010, and works in our accounting department. Her experience in property management and small business operations is an asset to our company.

Anna Cosentino
Studio Assistant

Since joining the team as an intern in January 2012, Anna has shown to be a valuable asset within SCC and now works as the Studio Assistant. Whether working alongside the digital department, assisting the finance department, or completing tasks for the CEO and COO, she completes any work assigned to her with quality and efficiency.

Gisele Gauthier
New Business Developer

Gisele's work has always involved bringing people together. Whether as an event planner or as a radio host, or when creating policies, procedures, and marketing plans for corporations and charities, the common thread has always been connecting people with what they need. In this spirit, for the last several years, Gisele has been introducing SCC to heads of companies across Canada.
